How I'm Rebuilding My Personal Brand After Burnout

Hi Reader,

I’m Justin and I write Brand Credential—a platform where I share insights on personal branding and marketing from my 12+ years in the industry, including leading marketing teams at startups and now a 5,000+ person tech company.

This week, I’m sharing a personal update: how I’m rebuilding my personal brand after a year of major changes and burnout — plus the simple content system I’m using that you can use, too, if you’re juggling a full plate.

🔍 This Week’s Insight: Structure Over Endless Effort

Over the past year, I experienced some of the biggest professional and personal changes of my life — a startup I helped build for five years being acquired, stepping into a new marketing leadership role, leading the launch of a major AI platform, and navigating family transitions and personal loss.

Somewhere along the way, the passion project that is my personal brand — the writing, the publishing, the building — quietly fell to the side.

Not because I stopped caring.

Because I needed to reframe how I was approaching it.

I realized I had been filling every spare moment with work, chasing momentum without a clear finish line. It wasn't sustainable — just endless effort with zero structure.

Now, I’m rebuilding differently: with measured, focused effort over time instead of random bursts of energy.

Here’s the simple content system I’m using to stay consistent each week:

  • 1 long-form article (published on Medium and my website).
  • 1–3 LinkedIn posts (repurposed sections or topics from the article).
  • 1 newsletter issue sharing the story (like this one!).

This system feels light enough that I can commit to it even during my busiest weeks — while still being substantial enough to go deeper on the topics I care about and share real value with people.

It’s like running my own mini marketing campaign every week — focused on unpacking one key lesson, story, or idea.

One thing that makes this system even more powerful is that it’s designed for repurposing my effort.

For example, the three key sections of this week's article will each become standalone LinkedIn posts — giving me multiple pieces of content without starting from scratch every time.

Research once ➡️ Write once ➡️ Repurpose thoughtfully across my channels.

I unpacked my full mindset shift, detailed content system, and new personal brand goals I’m working toward in this article:

That’s it for this week! As always, thank you so much for reading.

Talk soon,

Justin
