The 2 Brand-Building Skills AI Can’t Replicate

Hi Reader,

I’m Justin and I write Brand Credential—a platform where I share insights on personal branding and marketing from my 12+ years in the industry, including leading marketing teams at startups and now a 5,000+ person tech company.

This week, I’m unpacking two brand-building skills that are only becoming more valuable as AI floods our feeds with content: taste and distribution.

🔍 This Week’s Insight: Taste & Distribution Are the New Brand Moats

AI tools are making content creation faster, cheaper, and more accessible. We’re approaching a world where high-quality, professional-looking content is the norm on the internet.

So how do you stand out in a feed where everything looks good and new content is posted infinitely?

  • Taste – your ability to decide what to say, how to say it, and when it matters.
  • Distribution – your ability to consistently reach and connect with the right people on channels you own.

Taste and Distribution in Action

We're seeing the best creators make their brand growth resilient by applying both.

Take Dulma Atlan — her green-screen TikToks are instantly recognizable and packed with sharp, informative takes on business and creator trends. That’s taste. She also uses TikTok as a top-of-funnel engine to drive people to her newsletter and community forums — that’s distribution.

Or Sammy Ellard King, whose personal finance content has a consistent voice, unique visual style, and relatable delivery. That’s taste. And the reason it drives results is because he’s layered in a content system — Instagram fuels his email list and community, where he deepens the relationship and shares more valuable resources on channels he owns.

In this week’s article, I break down:

  • Why the traditional content moats of quality and volume are shrinking
  • What “taste” really means and how to apply it in your content strategy
  • How to build a resilient distribution system across owned channels like email, community, and DMs
  • Real examples of creators who are doing this incredibly well right now

If you’ve been feeling the pressure to create more content or compete with AI-generated everything, this is your roadmap to standing out and building a brand that lasts beyond the algorithm.

That’s it for this week! As always, thank you so much for reading.
